Canvas and animation settings
With nothing selected, the inspector shows the document's own settings: the canvas size and background, and the animation's length, repeat and direction. A new blank project is 640 × 400 with a white background, 3 seconds long, looping forever in the Normal direction.
Step by step
Select nothing
Click an empty part of the canvas, or press Esc, so nothing is selected. The inspector on the right shows the Document section.
Change the canvas size
Type 800 in Canvas W and press Enter. The artboard grows on the right and the view zooms out to fit it; the artwork stays where it is, at its own size.
Give it a background
Type #a8d8f0 in Background and press Enter, or click the swatch beside it for the colour window. This scene had none, so the artboard showed a checkerboard: none also leaves the exported file transparent.
Make it longer
Type 4 in Length and press Enter. The timeline now runs to 4 seconds; keyframes keep their times, so the ball rests for a second at the end. The box beside the time in the timeline (/ 0:03.00) sets the length too.
Set how often it plays
Pick 2 times in Repeat: the exported animation plays twice, then stops. The others are Loop forever, Play once, 3 times and 5 times.
Set the direction
Pick Alternate in Direction: every second time it plays backwards, so the ball rolls across and back. Reverse plays it backwards every time.
Play it
Click Play at the top left of the timeline, or press Space. With Loop preview on, the button beside Play, the preview goes on repeating in the direction you set; the exported file stops after 2 times.
