ANIMATE

Animation presets

Presets are ready-made animations, in six groups: Entrances, Exits, Emphasis, Strokes, Color and Filters. A preset starts at the playhead and writes keyframes on the selected layers, only for the properties it animates.

The three balloons pop in one after another, then stay until the animation starts over.
WHAT YOU’LL MAKE

The three balloons pop in one after another, then stay until the animation starts over. This one is the real exported SVG, playing.

Do it in the editor: guided tour5 steps · about 3 minutes · opens a practice scene

Step by step

  1. Select the balloons

With the Select tool, drag a box around the three balloons on the canvas, starting on the empty sky. Every layer the box touches is selected.

  2. Open the presets

Click Animate in the timeline's header, then Presets… at the top of its menu. The Presets window opens, on Entrances.

  3. Pick Pop in

Click Pop in. Every tile plays its preset and names the tracks it writes (Scale · Opacity). The line beside Apply says when it runs and what it replaces; with several layers selected, Stagger starts each one 0.1s after the last.

  4. Apply it

Click Apply (or double-click a tile). Each balloon gets Scale and Opacity keyframes: the first starts at the playhead, each next one 0.1s later. It is one undo step.

  5. Play it

Press Space. The balloons pop in, one after another, and stay until the 3-second animation starts over.

Good to know. Length, Stagger and Strength (how far it moves, grows or turns) change the preset before you apply it. Hovering a tile also shades its span on layers already in the timeline, and outlines in red the keyframes it would replace. A preset replaces only keyframes of its own properties inside its span, and ends (or starts) on the values the layer already has, so it slots into an animation you've made; one that runs past the end makes the animation longer. The Filters presets play in JS exports only.
