Images and assets

Images wait in the Assets tab, beside Layers. Put one on the canvas as often as you like: the file is kept once in the project, and the export embeds it.

Do it in the editor: guided tour4 steps · about 2 minutes · opens a practice scene

Step by step

  1. Open Assets

Click Assets above the Layers panel. Your images and SVG files are here; Add files brings in more, and so does dropping files on this tab.

  2. Place the picture

Click the sunset: it goes in the middle of the canvas, as an image layer. Drag it to the canvas instead to drop it where you let go.

  3. Size it

In the Image section of the inspector, type 240 in Size W and press Enter: the height follows, as an image keeps its proportions. Original size takes it back to its own pixels.

  4. Move it into place

Drag the picture into the frame. An image moves, scales, turns and fades like any other layer, and animates the same way.

Good to know. Dropping image files on the canvas, or pasting an image, puts them straight on the canvas; so does Import files in the ☰ menu. PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF and HEIC work, and an SVG file comes in as layers you can edit.
