Still images

Export › Image saves one frame of the animation as a picture: PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, or the frame as still SVG. Use it for a thumbnail, a poster or a fallback.

Step by step

  1. Open Export, pick Image

    Click Export in the top bar, then Image across the top of the window. The preview is the encoded file itself, with its size and format.

  2. Choose the frame

    It saves the frame under the playhead. Type 1.5 in Time and press Enter, drag the playhead under the preview, or step a frame at a time with the arrows: the editor's playhead moves with it.

  3. Pick a format

    Format is PNG, which loses nothing. Click WebP for a smaller file: Quality (82%) and Lossless show for it. AVIF and JPEG XL are smaller still, but not every browser shows JPEG XL yet.

  4. Choose its size

    Under Size, Scale is 2× the canvas, sharp on high-density screens. Click 1× for the canvas's own size, or Custom to type the pixels.

  5. Download it

    Click Download .webp at the bottom right, or Copy image to paste it somewhere else (as PNG).

Good to know. The background is Transparent, or the document's background, or a color of your own; JPEG has no transparency. Embed in your site gives a picture tag with the newer format first and PNG behind it, and Download the set (.zip) makes every file it names.
