Select same

Select same picks every layer that shares something with the selected one: its kind of shape, a colour, its stroke, opacity or blending mode, and for text its font or size. It is the quick way to reach many alike layers at once.

Do it in the editor: guided tour5 steps · about 2 minutes · opens a practice scene

Step by step

  1. Select a circle

Click the orange circle at the top left.

  2. Open Select same

Click the Select same button beside the layer name at the top of the inspector. It lists what the circle can be matched by, each with the circle's own value on the right: Ellipse, its fill colour, its opacity…

  3. Pick Shape

Click Shape. All three circles are selected, whatever their colour, and a message says how many. The squares and the text stay out.

  4. Match the outline

Click the outlined orange square, then Select same › Stroke color. The outlined circle is picked with it: both have the same white stroke.

  5. Match the labels

Click the word Round, then Select same › Font size. With a text layer selected the list has a Text part too, which picks text layers only: both labels are selected, the bigger title isn't.

Good to know. With several layers selected, a choice matches any of them: with an orange and a blue circle selected, Fill color picks every orange and every blue layer. Hidden and locked layers are left out, layers inside groups count, and values are compared as they are at the playhead. The same list is in the right-click menu and in ☰ › Edit, under Select same.
