Shapes

Rectangles, ellipses, polygons, stars and lines share one button in the tools. Draw one, then set its corners, sides or points in the inspector.

Do it in the editor: guided tour5 steps · about 3 minutes · opens a practice scene

Step by step

  1. Draw a rectangle

Press M for the Rectangle and drag on the canvas. Shift makes a square, Alt draws from the middle.

  2. Round its corners

In the Rectangle section of the inspector, type 24 in Radius or drag its slider. Its animates the radius.

  3. Pick the Star

Press and hold the shapes button in the tools, then pick Star. Ellipse, Polygon and Line are there too.

  4. Draw a star

Drag out from where its middle goes: the drag sets its size and angle. Shift keeps it upright, and ↑ ↓ while dragging add or remove points.

  5. Set its points

In the Star section, type 8 in Points or drag its slider. Ratio makes the points shorter or longer.

Good to know. A click without a drag places a shape at a standard size. A polygon or star keeps its settings until you edit its points by hand or give it Morph keyframes; then it becomes a plain path. Convert to path, in the shape's section, does that on purpose.
